PRESIDENT OPENS NEW GALLE BUS STAND

The newly constructed Galle Bus stand will be opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa today (July 11), the President’s Media Unit stated.

The bus stand will be known as Sri Lanka’s longest depot while a cost of Rs. 405 million was spent on its construction.

The Galle bus stand along with the Train station and the fly-over will be transferred to public ownership today.

Veteran Actor Joe Abeywickrama passed away at the age of 78 a short while ago. According to his family, he died upon being admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital after sustaining an injury during his exercises. The actor had fallen while doing his exercises and had been rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital but died upon arrival.
