FATHER ACCIDENTLY RUNS OVER SON WHILE BACKING UP

A one-year-old child died after accidentally being run over by his father’s jeep in Pansala Pokuna Road, Tangalle. 

The child’s father was reversing the vehicle which he had accidentally run over his son. 

Police said the child, who was critically wounded in the incident, was immediately rushed to the Tangalle Hospital, however succumbed to injuries soon after.

Tangalle Police are conducting further investigations.

NISHANTHA MUTHUHETTIGAMA ARRESTED

Nishantha Muthuhettigama has been arrested by a special police team in Yakkalamulla, Galle moments ago, Senior DIG Southern Province Kingsley Ekanayaka told Ada Derana. Ekanayaka told Ada Derana earlier that a special police team was deployed to arrest SPC member Nishantha Muthuhettigama over an arrest warrant. The arrest warrant is regarding the incident where he allegedly threatened the Galle District Secretary.
