The Assistant Government Agent (AGA) of the Thunkkai division of the Mullathivu district was killed in a roadside claymore mine last evening (29), reports revealed. The area has yet not being liberated by the security forces and is presently controlled by the LTTE.
Reports revealed that AGA N.Nanthakumar (36) succumbed to a claymore attack when riding a motorcycle. The incident is reported to have taken place between Ampalaperumal Kulm and Koddaikasiya Kulam.
Meanwhile refuting the claims of pro-LTTE media which said that troops are responsible for this attack, Military Spokesmen Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara told that the security forces have not entered this area yet and a 21 km distance has to be covered to reach it from Welioya.
"The AGA may have refused to carry out LTTE orders," he added.
It has been the regular practice of the LTTE terrorists to blame on the military for assassinations carried out by LTTE with the intention of disgracing the military and thereby to apply external pressures to stop the humanitarian mission engaged in by the security forces. The dead body of AGA Nanthakumar is now at the Akrayan hospital.
