CCD to question Dayasiri over Ganganath’s abduction?


UNP’s Kurunegala district Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara has been summoned to the Colombo Crime Division to record a statement in connection with the abduction of Prof. Dhammika Ganganath Dissanayake.

 

According to reports reaching Mr. Jayasekara has been asked to present himself at the CCD at 1.00 pm today (March 21). But he said that CCD officials had told him around three days ago that they would call over at his home at 11.00 am today to record a statement. However, they had not arrived at his residence as promised, and when he had inquired from the CCD, he has been asked to go to its office.

 

Reports say that Dayasiri Jayasekara had sent a text message to Prof. Dissanayake’s mobile phone a short while before his kidnapping. Prof. Dissanayake was freed the day after his abduction by a group of persons who had questioned him for a few hours, according him.

Nishantha Muthuhettigama has been arrested by a special police team in Yakkalamulla, Galle moments ago, Senior DIG Southern Province Kingsley Ekanayaka told Ada Derana. Ekanayaka told Ada Derana earlier that a special police team was deployed to arrest SPC member Nishantha Muthuhettigama over an arrest warrant. The arrest warrant is regarding the incident where he allegedly threatened the Galle District Secretary.
