The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association intends to request the National Transport Commission to only employ normal long-distance transport services instead of semi-luxury buses in several selected routes.The number of passengers able to travel in these semi-luxury buses depends on the number of seats, however these busses carry exceeding amounts of passengers, President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association, Gemunu Wijeratne pointed out as the reason for the request.
He also stated that several complaints have been received in this regard as these buses charge one-and-a-half times more than the normal bus service while providing no additional facilities to the public.
