GMOA OPPOSES PRACTICALS FOR PRIVATE MEDICAL STUDENTS IN GOV. HOSPITAL


The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has expressed its disapproval of the decision made by the Director of Health in the Western Province to allow practical training for students of the Malabe Private Medical Faculty at the Homagama Government Hospital.

Secretary of the GMOA, Dr. Chandika Epitakaduwa stated that the Director of Health had notified the Homagama Hospital Director of his decision while adding that the GMOA strongly opposed the decision to let a private faculty use state resources.

He further stated that steps were been taken to inform the Health Minister about the decision and its implications.

Veteran Actor Joe Abeywickrama passed away at the age of 78 a short while ago. According to his family, he died upon being admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital after sustaining an injury during his exercises. The actor had fallen while doing his exercises and had been rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital but died upon arrival.
