DEATH SENTENCE IMPOSED ON FIVE CHINESE NATIONALS

Five Chinese national have been given the death sentence by the Colombo High Court today for killing another Chinese national. Police had arrested two Chinese men while they were attempting to dump a body down a slope in Kandy in 2003.

Upon investigations three more Chinese nationals were arrested in connection with the murder. The Court also directed police to produce another suspect who was absconding.

Veteran Actor Joe Abeywickrama passes away

Veteran Actor Joe Abeywickrama passed away at the age of 78 a short while ago. According to his family, he died upon being admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital after sustaining an injury during his exercises. The actor had fallen while doing his exercises and had been rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital but died upon arrival.
