PROTEST AGAINST DOCTORS ‘UNACCEPTABLE’ - GMOA

The Government Medical Officers’ Association today (August 27) condemned the protests being carried out against doctors based on certain incidents. GMOA Secretary Dr. Upul Gunasekara stated that such a protest had been launched recently against doctors of the Balapitiya Hospital over an incident of a patient’s death.

The public taking the law into their own hands in such a manner against doctors that treat patients is highly unacceptable, he emphasized.

Speaking regarding the incident which occurred at the Balapitiya Hospital, Dr. Gunasekara claimed that the patient in question, who was hospitalized following a road accident, had died due to internal bleeding.

If any fault had occurred by the hospital staff, there is a method to act in that regard, he added criticizing any actions contradicting those methods.
