The Indian government has decided to release 35 Sri Lankan fishermen, arrested for allegedly venturing into Indian waters, along with 7 fishing vessels. The Fisheries Ministry stated that the released fishermen will be repatriated once the approval of the Indian government is received.
41 Sri Lankan fishermen in total were taken into custody by Indian Coast Guard recently while 8 of their vessels were sized as well.
The remaining fishermen had not been released reportedly due to one of them filing an appeal.
